The Last Checkpoint is an inspiring story of Alusine, a 9- year old boy who is captured by rebels and used by one of the rebel’s sons: 12 year old Brima, who uses him as a mule to accomplish his precarious mission. Sucked into the horrors of the aftermath that is created by the destruction of war, the boys struggle to come to terms with the various forces that threaten their lives. For Brima, the drive to regain his status in his gang is paramount despite the fragile life of his mule, Alusine, who is desperately coming to terms with the death of his family and the desire to kill Brima and escape. Can the boys survive each other and the warring factions they come across?
